The 229th Sheffield Greenhill Methodist Scout Troop is now a Learning Destination for the Sheffield Children’s University.
Introducing Children’s University
Our Scout Troop is now an accredited Learning Destination for the Children’s University – the national initiative which encourages children and young people to take part in a wide range of learning opportunities outside school hours.
Kids gain a credit for each hour of external learning – in our case scouting activities. These credits add up to earn special Sheffield CU award certificates and badges from 30 to 1000 hours.
It may be that your child is already collecting CU credits.
How to get involved
If you are already enrolled
We already know that some of our scouts are doing CU already – let us know if that’s you!
If you are new to Children’s University
The only thing you need to get collecting credits is a Passport to Learning. These costs £3.50 each and can be bought from either ourselves on a Monday night from Barrie or any Sheffield library.
How do I get collect my credits?
To make sure your credits are awarded you need to do 2 things…
- Make sure that your name and attendance at each session is recorded on the register.
- Ensure you get your Passport to Learning signed at the end of each term by a Scout leader.
If you have any more questions, please visit the SCU website: www.sheffield.gov.uk/cu , email us or speak to Brian, Mark or Barrie at a Scout meeting.
Details are also on the Troop notice board in the Hut.
