On Wednesday 21st June the Cubs met in Ecclesall Woods for a shelter building activity as part of their ‘Outdoor Challenge Award’ Badge
14 Cubs were present and the activity began with Andrew (Assistant Cub Leader) explaining to the pack the reasons and importance for building a good shelter, and the different types of shelter.
It was stressed to the Cubs that only fallen wood was to be used for the framework and only bracken could be cut for the covering.
The Cubs split into two groups with one group opting for a small one/two person shelter. And the other group choosing to construct a larger group shelter.
The photos show the completed small shelter which the cubs did manage to get seven inside although very cramped.
Unfortunately the larger shelter took longer to finish and the light had faded too much for any photo’s to be taken
